Dental Implants St. Peters MO
Dental implants are changing the way people live! They are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth which look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved.
The implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are inserted into the jawbone where teeth are missing. These metal anchors act as tooth root substitutes and are surgically placed into the jawbone. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth. Dental implants help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing.

Wisdom Teeth St. Peters MO
Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt within the mouth. When they align properly, and gum tissue is healthy, wisdom teeth do not have to be removed. Unfortunately, this does not generally happen. The extraction of wisdom teeth is necessary when they are prevented from properly erupting within the mouth. They may grow sideways, partially emerge from the gum, and even remain trapped beneath the gum and bone.
These poorly positioned impacted teeth can cause many problems. When they are partially erupted, the opening around the tooth allows bacteria to grow and will eventually cause an infection. The result: swelling, stiffness, pain and illness. The most serious problem occurs when tumors or cysts form around the impacted wisdom tooth, resulting in the destruction of the jawbone and healthy teeth. Early removal is recommended to avoid such future problems and to decrease the surgical risk involved with the procedure.

Bone Grafting St. Peters MO
Over a period of time, the jawbone associated with missing teeth atrophies or is reabsorbed. This often leaves a condition in which there is poor quality and quantity of bone suitable for placement of dental implants. In these situations, most patients are not candidates for placement of dental implants.
We now have the ability to grow bone where needed. These bone graft procedures not only give us the opportunity to place implants of proper length and width, they also gives us a chance to restore functionality and esthetic appearance.
Drs. Smith, Priddy and Ivey perform a wide range of Bone Grafting procedures including:

I can't say enough about how wonderful Dr. Ivey, his assistant Ana & Nancy (that scheduled my appointment) really are. Nancy even called me to check on me & appoligized for missing me while I was there. My only complaint would be the last that came to see who was taking care of my $60 bill as I was being prepped for surgery. She was beyond rude to myself & my husband. Everyone else was so helpful & set me at ease. I would 100% refer friends & family to them.

The cyst, which was benign overgrowth of nerve cells, above my upper lip was gently removed in June or July 2016. I am so pleased with the procedure as you cannot see a scar. You'd be surprised there was ever a growth!

I've only just had all 4 wisdom teeth removed (7 hours ago), but I am completely in awe of how wonderful everyone was. From my consult to the day of the extraction, I have had a great experience. Dr. Ivey made me feel so at ease and comfortable, and I don't do too well even having my teeth cleaned. Thank you everyone for the experience that may have changed my negative feelings toward all things dental!

Dr. Ivey and Deb were great. I had four wisdom teeth removed and it was easier than I expected. I am 65 and the biggest chicken in the word when it comes to dentists and I would not hesitate going back.

Thank you to the staff for making my husband's wisdom tooth extractions as easy as it can be. From the office staff to Dr. Ivey- everyone was on top of their game. They were friendly, professional and did a great job to explain what to expect from the surgery and recovery. Chrissy, the surgical assistant, was excellent. Thanks again!

Patient Review By Susan G
Two years ago I had a terrible issue with a tooth that was extracted from another doctor. Everything that could have gone wrong did. I developed a life-threatening infection. Dr. Ivey was the only doctor who know what was wrong and hospitalized me to perform surgery. He was the only dentist I went to, after seeing several, who knew exactly what went wrong and how to fix it. I was very ill. Throughout the entire process, he was confident and compassionate. It was a long drawn out recovery but in the end, all went well and I have Dr. Ivey to thank for that. I will never go to another oral surgeon except him and highly recommend him!

I had a wisdom tooth and molar extracted under IV anesthetic. I am a Registered Nurse and am impressed with the up to date electronic monitoring equipment used on me during the procedure plus up to date anesthetic and pain management plan. I felt no pain from the beginning of the procedure untiI later in the evening which was minimal. Following the Pain Management plan has kept pain very well under control. I left the office in an ice pack sling with a nice case of supplies needed for the next few days including two extra gel ice packs for the freezer, a fact sheet of instructions and what to expect and do. Very professional group.
